Catalyst a Winner at Eurovision, May 2002
The Eurovision Song Contest* broadcast last Saturday evening was a triumph of technology over talent. The technology in question is Catalyst™, the projection system that combines the power of digital media with the creativity of automated effects lighting. The least said about the talent the better!
WWG developed the Catalyst system for High End Systems of Austin, Texas.

Catalyst was essential to the success of the three hour TV transmission, which was certainly spectacular to say the least, because the designers had come up with an integrated set that combined seven moving screens with some fantastic graphical imagery. No projection system, other than Catalyst, could provide the ability to meet these requirements, while also providing the essential facility to track the moving screens. 14 Catalysts were used on the moving screens, and an additional Catalyst server provided the backdrop. The projectors used were triple DLP, NEC XL 8000s, large-venue projectors for the screens and four Panasonic PT-D95000, 9000 ANSI lumens, cinema projectors for the backdrop.

If you get the opportunity go to www.eurovision.tv, and click on Clips in the Home page, there you can select the performances by country that you wish to check out. To save you the trouble of looking through the entire programme here is a list of the best bits: Spain, Croatia, Russia, Estonia, Macedonia, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Bosnia Herzegovina, France, Germany, Romania and Lithuania. We recommend turning the sound off so that you can concentrate on the visuals!

A CD of edited highlights will be available shortly.

....AND PRAISE FROM THE PRODUCTION COMPANY

Hi Guys!
I just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH!
For inventing this brilliant piece of machinery!
When I was at the first production meeting in Tallinn regarding the ESC 2002 and they desribed their idea with the datacontrolled flakes it became
cristall clear that the Catalyst was just the tool we needed to pull it of. Everybody thats been involved with this project are amazed how well they preformed and how little technical problems we had with the system!
So...Thanks a Million!
I hope you enjoyed the show.
HAVE A NICE SUMMER!
